Robot vacuum cleaner cannot locate base station

The robot vacuum cleaner cannot locate the base station.

“Auto” or “Spot” cleaning mode was started from somewhere in the room.

The robot vacuum cleaner was steered manually from the base station to another location where Auto or Spot mode was started. After cleaning, the robot vacuum cleaner will return to this starting point.

Start the robot vacuum cleaner from the base station.

There is insufficient light for the robot vacuum cleaner to navigate.

Ensure sufficient light is available. Ceilings with low lighting or very dark rooms cannot be easily detected by the ceiling camera, which can affect navigation.

The base station is not connected correctly.

To connect the base station correctly, open the storage compartment on the base station, see Fig. 1, and plug the power supply unit into the socket located at the top of the storage compartment, see Fig. 2.

Then connect the power supply unit and the mains plug to an electrical socket, see Fig. 3. The “Contact” indicator on the base station will light up red.

Stow the power supply unit in the storage compartment in the base station and feed the mains connection cable through the slot, see Fig. 4.

Place the base station on a level surface against a free wall. Ensure that there is an obstacle-free distance of at least 1.5 m in front and 0.5 m to the right and left of the base station, see Fig. 5.

The sensors on the robot vacuum cleaner are dirty.

Clean the sensors carefully using a dry cotton wool bud, see Fig. 6.

The signal between the infrared transmitter on the base station and the robot vacuum cleaner has been interrupted.

Make sure that no items disrupt the signal.

Steer the robot vacuum cleaner manually or carry it back to the base station.

The infrared transmitter on the base station is defective.

You can use your mobile phone to ascertain for yourself whether the infrared transmitter on the base station is operating.

  • To do this, hold your mobile phone with the camera switched on in front of the infrared transmitter, see Fig. 7. You should be able to see the infrared transmitter flashing in the screen.

  • You can also carry out a cross-check on the remote control using this procedure by pressing and holding a button on the remote control and holding your mobile phone in front of the remote control with the camera switched on, see Fig. 8. However, this is only possible with mobile phones that do not have an infrared filter in the camera.

  • If you do not see a flashing red LED in the screen of your mobile phone, first check whether the camera on your mobile phone has an infrared filter.

  • If your mobile phone does not have an infrared filter and there is still no flashing red LED visible in the screen of your mobile phone when you check the base station or the remote control, contact the Miele Customer Service Department.

Obstacles on the floor which is to be vacuumed can impede navigation.

Watch the robot vacuum cleaner during vacuuming to identify and remove any problematic obstacles, define the area they are in with the magnetic strip, or reduce the maximum crossing over height.
